Why my grandma is my role model.

  1. She Cooks the best food
    • Whether it’s Thanksgiving or Christmas or any holiday for that matter my grandma is by far the best cook. From communion bread to her famous mac and cheese, mind you no mac n cheese will ever beat it my grandmas cooking is my favorite. No one does it quite like my grandma.
  2. Stories
    • A grandma’s stories are the best to listen to. They are full of knowledge and often laughs. My favorite is how you and grandpa met. I love that with every story is a small lesson.
  3. Understands dating
    • I believe my grandma is the only one who I have ever heard of her teaching her granddaughter this but I am sure glad she did. She always told me to line em up!! If you are slightly confused, let me explain…
To line em up, means to line the boys up. Growing up I did just that! I found a boy and if I didn’t like them I would throw them out. Now I know this sounds bad…. However, it allowed me to find what I liked and what I didn’t. Like if they were too clingy that was a no go. So grandma thanks for teaching me to line em up just like you did but also teaches me that when you find a good one like you did with grandpa, to keep them and don’t let go.

Somehow my grandma understands boys and dating more than anyone my age. She is always keeping updated on me and giving great advice. But the best advice is watching you and grandpa and your love for each other. I hope one day I can have a love like yours and a man who just goes with my flow like grandpa does with you.
  1. Laughs
    • Your laugh is very contagious and also very loud. However, that is what I love. Whenever we are at your house or you are at ours there are always lots of laughs.
  2. Knows how to clean any mess
    • Grandmas are the best at cleaning. Whether it’s something that has spilled, a crumb on the floor, or a stain in your favorite clothing item. If there is ever a stain you always take care of it and just take it home with you. If there are dirty dishes in the sink you ALWAYS put them in the dishwasher and put them away which I don’t think I will ever understand why you love doing them so much.
  3. Style
    • Somehow grandma, you are always looking the best. Your earrings and necklaces always match and your clothes are always put together so nicely. I hope when I am your age I am as stylish as you are.
  4. Unconditional love
    • Grandmas are always the most loving people on the planet. My grandma in particular is full of unconditional love. She has shown me more love throughout my life then I can ever imagine and somehow her love is always equal to all her grandchildren. I feel so blessed to have someone in my life who loves me so much.
  5. She gets me
    • My grandma gets me better than anyone I know. Mainly because I am basically a mini version of her. She understands when I am super happy or when I am feeling down in the dumps. She understands when someone gets on my nerves and teaches me how to react. My grandma forever will understand that I need coffee to start my day and refuse to be late to any event. She understands that I am always on the go and doing something. Each of these are traits that I have learned in some form from my grandma.
  6. Summer Fun
    • I can remember as a kid and the best part of my week was going to my grandmas. I have so many memories with her. From garage sales to puzzles and games. Days with my grandma were unforgettable. She always got my cousins and I McDonalds pancakes for breakfast with orange drink. We always played loads of games together and often in the summer grandma would get out tarps, put them in the yard, pull the sprinklers out and we would have our very own slipping slide. Grandma’s house was always the best full of lots of love and fun. My cousin would play with all of grandma’s hair products and we always loved the mousse!!! We had our very own salon. We rode bikes and played baseball outside, it was never-ending fun.
  7. Always takes care of others
    • My grandma is always taking care of others. Whether it’s getting food for us, cheering us up, or whatever it might be. She is always making sure everyone is taken care of and has everything they need. I love this because she has constantly showed me to take care of others before I take care of myself.
  8. Sweet Treats
    • Oh the sweet treats! Grandma ALWAYS had candy. The candy jars at her work and the candy cupboard at home. From our all-time favorite nerd ropes to nerds, chocolate, and suckers. Grandma was always giving us sweet treats. Oh and the popcorn she made when we watched movies or had a snack after school. We always had the colorful bowls of popcorn and she melted butter and poured it on the popcorn. It was the best!
  9. Keeps your secrets
    • I always know if I need to just talk to someone and get things off my chest I can always tell my grandma. She always listens, is patient and never fails to keep a secret. I trust her with my life. Plus, grandmas always know best.
  10. The church bag
    • This probably doesn’t make much sense to most of you however, when we went to church my grandma always had a “church bag”. It was filled with the best toys to keep us busy. From a little floppy doll, to a fish puzzle that you had to move in different directions to get it to the final picture, and a little set of fairy tiny dolls and a small house that folded together. Oh and don’t forget the silly putty!!! Grandma always came prepared.
  11. House is oh so cozy
    • There is something about the smell of my grandma’s home. It’s so comforting and cozy. You somehow always feel safe.
  12. Tradition
    • I love the traditions that remind me of my grandma. First is communion bread, because for my family this is something we eat as a snack and grandma makes it at every family event.  I can remember her teaching me how to make it at a very young age. Mac n cheese is another, it’s not a family event without my grandma’s mac n cheese. Also around Christmas time gingerbread houses remind me of my grandma. She gets me one every year and its always different. Then she keeps it for a really long time after. Something else that isn’t really a tradition but reminds me of my grandma is looking at picture album’s. Before school as a kid grandma would drive me down the lane and we would sit with the heated seat on and look at picture album’s until the bus came, and when we were done grandma would mark them with a sticker so we would remember we were finished.
  13. Always teaches you something
    • My grandma is always teaching me something, whether it is how to cook or clean or just be a better me, I am always learning from her.
  14. Always glad to see you
    • My grandma is always glad to see me when I come home or just come over a random day and I am always glad to see her too.
  15. Makes me a better person
    • Overall my grandma makes me a better version of me. She has taught me so much in life and I love her so much. I might be a mini version of her… but I hope one day I can teach my children and grandchildren all the things my grandma taught me. This is why my grandma is my greatest role model.
